The classic story is back on stage: Dirty Dancing. Emotion, sensational dancing and music are filling theatres across the United Kingdom in a show that has been seen by millions across the world. Fans of the film will be in for a breathtaking recreation of the iconic film that made Baby and Johnny household names.
Two young spirits join the stage to provide a retelling of their magical summer together.
The two come together in a performance that spans 35 hit songs which include all of your favorites, including “Hey Baby” and “Hungry Eyes.”
The performance starts in the summer of 1963 when Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman is about to learn about the world of dance. Baby, just 17 years old, joins her parents and sister in New York’s Catskill Mountains. The teen, not interested in many of the activities that the resort has to offer, finds an all-night dance party that changes her life forever.
Raunchy and sexual dance moves are on display with music pumping in the background.
Eager to join in on the fun, she meets Johnny, the dance instructor at the resort which turns a boring summer holiday into an event that the world will remember forever. The two have an undeniable chemistry that leads the two on a journey that ignites a flame inside both of them. Dance pushes Baby and Johnny to take their relationship on and off the stage.
The performance lasts 2 hours and 15 minutes, including an intermission.
Cast members bring the story to life with the two main members being:
- Katie Eccles. Katie takes on the role of Baby in stunning fashion. Trained in theatre, she has been credited with several theatrical performances, including Cinderella, Snow White and the 42nd Street Gala. She has also been on television, including performances on Mr. Selfridge and Grantchester.
- Lewis Griffiths. Lewis plays the role of Johnny. Trained in London, he has also been in an array of shows, including Jersey Boys, Ghost, Legally Blonde, Rent, Fame, Love Shack and several others. He also has film credits in The Graduation and Deal.
Katie and Lewis represent everything fans of Dirty Dancing love about the film. The two have a chemistry which is clearly seen on the stage. The chemistry between the two seems to ignite further as the performance unravels with the two seeming like star crossed lovers that found each other on stage.
